بعد حصولها على بكالوريوس علوم في الإدارة والتسويق في العام 1987 من الجامعة اللبنانية الأميركية (كلية بيروت للبنات سابقا)، عملت زينة عكر عدره في اتحاد غوث الأولاد Save the Children USA تسع سنوات إلى أن أسست مع جواد عدره "الشركة الدولية للمعلومات" وجمعية الإنماء الاجتماعي والثقافي (إنماء).
وتعمل الدولية للمعلومات منذ 1995 في مجال الأبحاث والاستشارات في لبنان والمنطقة العربية في مختلف القطاعات: الاجتماعية والاقتصادية، تقييم الاحتياجات، السياحة، دراسات السوق، استطلاعات الرأي، دراسات الجدوى، الدراسات البيئية، الحكم الرشيد والتدريب. كما تصدر الدولية للمعلومات مجلة "الشھرية" باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية، والتي تتناول مواضيع مھمة وذات صلة بشكل رئيسي بالقطاع العام وذلك بالوقائع والأرقام وبتحليل مجدي للمصلحة الوطنية. كما يصدر عن الشركة عشرات الكتب والدراسات حول ترشيد الإنفاق وضبط الھدر والفساد.
ولقد ساھمت بتأسيس جمعية الإنماء الاجتماعي والثقافي "إنماء" في 1997 العاملة في المجالات الصحية والبيئية والتربوية وحماية التراث والتوعية على معنى المواطنة. وقد قامت الجمعية بعدة مشاريع مستدامة على المستوى الوطني في ثلاث مجالات: الزراعة، السياحة والمعلوماتية. ومن الأعمال الأخيرة التي قامت بھا الجمعية ھو إنشاء متحف نابو في شمال لبنان والتي عملت السيدة عدره فيه كمديرة مشروع.
إضافة الى عملھا كمديرة الدولية للمعلومات وجمعية إنماء، تدير السيدة عدره "دار كتب للنشر" منذ العام 2007.
Zeina Akar
After graduating from the Lebanese American University (formerly known as the American School for Girls (ASG)) with a Bachelor of Science in Management and Marketing, Zeina Akar joined Save the Children USA where she held several positions before being appointed as Project Manager. She then established with Jawad .Adra “Information International” and "The Social and Cultural Development Association" (INMA).
Information International has been working since 1995 in the field of research and consultancy in Lebanon and the Arab region, covering various sectors: social and economic, needs assessment, tourism, market studies, opinion polls, feasibility studies, environmental studies, good governance and training. Information International also publishes “The Monthly”, an Arabic and English magazine that examines public sector issues and analyzes them relying on facts and figures. Information International publications include dozens of books and studies on government expenditures, corruption and municipal and parliamentary elections.
In 1997, Zeina Akar co-founded INMA, an organization working in the fields of health, environment, education, heritage protection, and public awareness. The association has carried out several sustainable national projects in three fields: agriculture, tourism and information technology (IT). One of the recent works undertaken by the association is the establishment of the Nabu Museum in northern Lebanon, where Mrs. Akar worked as a Project Manager.
In addition to her work as Executive Director of Information International and INMA, Mrs. Akar has been running since 2007 “Kutub Ltd.”, a publishing house specialized in culture, history and factual books on Lebanon and the region.
